Meet the Therapist
My name is Ioanna Kakkou and I am a psychologist and psychotherapist in training. My academic journey began at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, where I studied Psychology, and later took me to the Netherlands for a master’s in Clinical Psychology at Erasmus University Rotterdam. There, I had the chance to expand my knowledge in psychopathology and more complex mental health issues, while familiarizing myself with Schema Therapy and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
Seeking an approach that focuses less on diagnosis and more on the personal strengths and abilities of every individual, I explored different therapeutic perspectives, attending basic Positive Psychology and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy courses. My need for a more holistic way of working led me to my current advanced training in Integrative
Psychotherapy. In this context, I am delving into how different therapeutic methods can be combined to adapt to the unique needs of each individual.
Psychology and psychotherapy have taught me that perspective is not fixed—it can shift, expand, and bring clarity where there was once confusion. Understanding ourselves can lead to a more meaningful and balanced relationship with both ourselves and those around us. It’s not always easy, but it is possible—and definitely worth the effort!
Taking this step can feel daunting, but you don’t have to do it alone. Acknowledging the need for support is the first and most powerful step toward growth and healing.
