Meet the Therapist
My name is Ioanna Kakkou, and I am a psychologist and psychotherapist in training. My academic journey began at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, where I studied Psychology, and later brought me to the Netherlands to complete a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at Erasmus University Rotterdam. There, I deepened my knowledge of psychopathology and complex mental health presentations while
becoming familiar with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Schema Therapy.
As my training progressed, I found myself increasingly drawn to approaches that look beyond symptoms and diagnosis to understand the person as a whole. This led me to further explore Positive Psychology and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) through seminars and introductory training, before continuing my professional development through training in Integrative Psychotherapy. Within this framework, I continue to deepen my understanding of how different evidence-informed therapeutic approaches can be integrated to meet the unique needs of each individual.
Over the course of my training and clinical experience, I have come to appreciate that no two people arrive in therapy in the same way. Each person brings their own story, relationships, experiences, and way of understanding themselves and the world. My role is not to fit those experiences into a predetermined framework, but to understand them with you. From there, we can begin to explore what feels true and meaningful for your life.
